Inspiring the next generation at Wigan & Leigh College Green Week

Last week we had the pleasure of taking part in Wigan & Leigh College’s Green Week, joining forces with Dodd Group and Willmott Dixon to support the college’s Sustainability Day. The event gave us the chance to talk directly with students about renewable technologies, with a particular focus on the role of solar PV in helping create a cleaner, greener future.

Our colleagues Ed Irving and Josh Leigh also spent time discussing career opportunities within construction and building services engineering. It was a fantastic opportunity to share real-world insights into the industry, explain the pathways available, and highlight the impact young people can have as the sector continues to innovate and move towards net zero.

Events like this show how important community engagement is. By connecting with students, we can help spark new interest in engineering and sustainability, while also giving practical advice that supports their career choices. For us at TACE, it’s not just about the projects we deliver today, but also about helping shape the skilled workforce that will deliver the projects of tomorrow.

We left the event inspired by the enthusiasm of the students and encouraged by their passion for change. If their energy is anything to go by, the future of our industry, and the drive towards a more sustainable built environment, is in very capable hands.
